(SAMOA) — Registered voters who do not cast a ballot in the 2021 General Elections will be fined $100 tala if a bill that calls for mandatory voting — now before Parliament — is passed.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Electoral Commission this week, it says: "Mandatory voting for all registered voters will be a must in the upcoming 2021 General Elections, subject to approval of the Electoral Bill 2018 now before Parliament."

The 2018 Bill will repeal the 55-year old Electoral Act 1963.

New executive officers will be elected at the special meeting, said Rudy Bartley, Acting President of the Journalists Association of Samoa.

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. 26 March, 2018, at the Hotel Insel Fehmarn Conference Room.

(SAMOA) — Culinary Arts and Food Service have received a nice boost through Teen Challenge Samoa, the recipients of $5,000 tala in resources from the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development and the Samoa One UN Youth Employment Programme.

The resources — stove, cutlery, pots, storage containers, coolers and other kitchen essentials are "for enterprise ventures in the food service industry providing youth with basic skills for deployment in the hospitality sector or [the] start of their own business," the MWCSD announced in a statement.
