(SAMOA) – Fishers from the Pacific and Caribbean have had a rare opportunity to compare notes and nets, thanks to a study tour arranged by FAO’s Subregional Office for the Pacific Islands and counterparts in Caribbean island countries.

FAO, through its subregional office for the Pacific Islands, and the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) have just completed the first phase of a Pacific-Caribbean Nearshore Fisherfolk Exchange – a 12-day study tour across three Caribbean island countries.

(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.) – Kahuku High School's Lady Red Raiders have won a national rugby title in Tennessee, winners of the Single High School Rugby Championships in Murfreesboro.

Coached by Silivenusi Tukuafu, the U-18 squad from Hawai'i defeated Catholic Memorial High School 33-29 in the final held at the Middle Tennessee State University Rugby Grounds.

The win is "epic for Hawai'i youth rugby," said Maafu Wendt, President of the Hawai'i Rugby Union.

Finalists competed during the Polynesian Cultural Center's "Ha Breath of Life" Show at the Pacific Theater.

The 2018 Champion is from Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i and dances with the Mauga Mu Siva Afi club based in Waialua.

In the effort to strengthen these skills among the children at Pata Primary School, Galulolo is seeking books for the library as their current collection lacks the type of reading material students need.

"We have many books and encyclopedia in our library and we are thankful for the donations, but we don't have the type of books the children need," she told Tautalatala.
