(SAMOA)–Samoa's Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF) Lopao'o Natanielu Mua blasted the American Heart Association (AHA) for its "negative propaganda" published about coconut oil which has impacted the export of coconut products from the Pacific to the world.

Lopao'o made the comments when he opened the inaugural Coconuts For Life meeting at Taumeasina Island Resort on Monday morning, 30 September, 2019.

(SAMOA)–Vaiola College tops the list of 10 schools on the big island of Savai'i recognized by the nation's education and sports ministry for their participation in the XVI Pacific Games Adopt-A-Country 'School Environment' competition.

Of those 10 participating schools, Vaiola, operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the only secondary school from Savai'i listed among the awardees in the School Environment category.

Vaiola adopted the Solomon Islands and declared: "We are proud Solomons from Samoa!"

(SAMOA)–A mom and daughter academic team from Utulei are traveling to Samoa for a cross-cultural exchange that highlights the impact of pollution and environmental issues in American Samoa, Samoa and the surrounding ocean.

Mom Dr. Donna Vaitu'utu'u Achica-Talaeai said she will not participate in the three days of environmental science activities. She accompanies her daughter Donna Fa'au'uga Aigailetai Talaeai to support the honour student's selection to study in the "important" Finafinau environment program.

NEW ZEALAND - A traveler from Samoa was stopped at Auckland International Airport and a bat's head was seized when he had it listed under his list of declared risk items.

The traveler said his family had eaten the rest of the bat in Samoa and that he was bringing the head with him to show his relatives in New Zealand.

According to Craig Hughes this incident ranks up there in the list of strange things they've seen from passengers.

(SAMOA) – Opening up college scholarship opportunities in the U.S.A. to young athletes in the Independent State of Samoa is the primary goal of a first time exhibition football game set for Friday, 29 June.

"We want to lay the foundation for athletes to work together to bring American football to Samoa so that our youth from Samoa will have the same opportunities and access to scholarships to play for and attend colleges and universities in America – as our youth in American Samoa," said AYFS Matais Head Coach Loso I'aulualo.

The tweet reads: "Dear #Samoa" and is accompanied by an image showing the flag of Samoa with a banner that states "Happy Independence Day!"

The Twitter account named "Israel," based in Jerusalem, says it is the State of Israel's official Twitter channel maintained by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs Digital Diplomacy Team.

The message is signed: "Sincerely yours, Israel."
