(SAMOA) — Rev. Fuata'i Simanu opened Zone A's Rugby 15s season with a word of prayer, reminding young rugby players to emulate Christian soldiers when on the field.

Rev. Simanu is leader of the EFKS Church in Satalo, Falealili.

He read from the Holy Bible, urged good sportsmanship and offered a word of prayer during opening ceremonies.

He told the young men to behave as Christian soldiers on and off the field and prayed for a safe successful season for all athletes, parents, teachers, schools and teams.

Players, teachers and spectators bowed their heads in prayer before teams donned their uniforms and entered the rugby field Thursday, March 8.

Falealili College is among the teams competing in Zone A's six-week 15-a-side rugby competition.
