Samoa Gov’t hosts tourism conference in Hawai’i

(HONOLULU, Hawai'i) — In the effort to promote tourism in Samoa to the U.S. market, the Samoa Government will host a formal Samoan Community Conference and dinner next week. Invitees will meet with a delegation led by Samoa Prime Minister Tuilaepa Fatialofa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi.

The conference and dinner is hosted by the Samoa Tourism Authority in collaboration with Sielu Enterprises, a company owned by Sielu Avea which offers Hawai’i visitors the Chief’s Luau at Sealife Park at Waimanalo.

“This is in an effort to promote tourism in Samoa in regard to selling to the United States market,” states a Letter of Invitation issued by the Samoa Government. “The conference will give you the opportunity to ask questions and get informed.”

Members of the Samoa Government delegation include Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aiono Mose Sua; CEO of the Samoa Tourism Authority Sonja Hunter; STA Marketing and Promotions Manager Dwayne Bentley and STA Cultural Liaison Officer Nuafesili Matuni Fepulea’i.

Mrs. Gillian Meredith Malielegaoi, wife of the prime minister, will accompany Tuilaepa to Hawai'i, says an event coordinator.

The Samoa delegation is due to arrive in Honolulu next week Tuesday, June 11 and depart Friday, June 14.

The conference and dinner is set for 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 13 at the Sealife Park Pavilion in Waimanalo. It is by invitation only.

Questions must be submitted in advance via e-mail “for screening in consideration of time control and censorship,” the invite states.

“We hope you are able to attend as it is important to show our strength in unity,” notes the invite.
