The Miss South Pacific Pageant 2012 got off to a bit of a rocky start with glitches in the lighting and sound system, but the glitches slowly got worked out as the pageant progressed. There were a few funny moments but the contestants handled each situation with grace, which probably only made the judging harder.
The winner of the pageant, Miss Samoa Janine Nicky Tuivaiti was a solid contendor from the start... Well, she was a bit late to the show but her handlers hustled her into the venue and she took to the stage without missing a step, inserting herself right into the contestants' opening dance smoothly. Her grace under pressure probably helped her with the judges later on in the pageant.
Overall, a decent show to bring an end to the pageant week that was filled with photo shoots, a parade, and various public and not so public events and interviews. I would like to extend a fa'afetai (thank you) to the Turtle & Shark Lodge, whose table we sat at that afforded us such great photos. Enjoy!
