  • (SAMOA) — JAWS has called a special meeting for Monday, 26 March where new members are invited to register.

    The meeting was announced on the National Media Association of Samoa JAWS Facebook page.

    New executive officers will be elected at the special meeting, said Rudy Bartley, Acting President of the Journalists Association of Samoa.

    The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. 26 March, 2018, at the Hotel Insel Fehmarn Conference Room.

  • (Honolulu, HAWAI'I)--On June 30, 2013, Malagamafaleupolu Alaiva’a Tu’upo, 69, of Salt Lake, O’ahu, died at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawai’i.

    He was born in Matafa’a, Lefaga, Samoa, Dec. 8, 1943. He held these matai titles (villages in parentheses): Matua o Leasi (Sasina); Tausaga (Alofau); Aiolupotea (Falelima) and Selesele (Satupa’itea).   • (Honolulu, HAWAI'I)--The U.S. State Department must approve the name that has been submitted for Samoa’s honorary consul in Hawai’i, says Aiono Mose Sua, Chief Executive Office for the Samoa Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

    (Papali’i) Jack Thompson, owner of Tihati Productions, has agreed to have his name submitted for the honorary consul position, Aiono told last week when the Samoa Government hosted a Samoan Community Conference at Sea Life Park.

  • (Waianae, HAWAI’I)—Waianae Samoan Methodist Church Youth are champions of the co-ed Sinoti Metotisi Hawai’i Softball Tournament, a statewide church competition hosted for the first time in 2013.

    Sinoti Metotisi Hawai’i refers to the Synod or "council" representing six Samoan Methodist Churches in Hawai’i.

    In the tournament, no team was able to defeat Waianae. Not even once. They finished the competition with a perfect 12-0.
