(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.) – Kahuku High School's Lady Red Raiders have won a national rugby title in Tennessee, winners of the Single High School Rugby Championships in Murfreesboro.

Coached by Silivenusi Tukuafu, the U-18 squad from Hawai'i defeated Catholic Memorial High School 33-29 in the final held at the Middle Tennessee State University Rugby Grounds.

The win is "epic for Hawai'i youth rugby," said Maafu Wendt, President of the Hawai'i Rugby Union.

(SAMOA) — A giant mural featuring a Samoan Taupou is in progress at Long Beach Boulevard and 69th Street in California, cousins of Artist Jason Pereira urging others to check out the art in person to truly appreciate its beauty.

(KAPOLEI, Hawai'i) — Students, parents and colleagues are mourning the sudden loss of school teacher Esther Reid Trani, a leader in Hawai'i's Samoan community who worked tirelessly to perpetuate the arts and language of Samoa.

Trani's mother Vaitinasa Dr. Salu Hunkin-Finau, longtime educator and politician from American Samoa, joined Kapolei High School for a memorial held in her daughter's honor, May 7 at the campus. Flags at Kapolei were flown at half mast.

(TACOMA, Wa.) — 'Love and Unity' is the theme for the Samoan Arts & Academics Competition that will bring together students from 41 schools, Saturday, May 5 at the Tacoma Dome in the state of Washington.
