  • (SAMOA, Calif.) — A special 90-minute Adopt-A-Highway clean-up at the Samoa Peninsula in Humboldt, Calif. is among the many events that will mark Earth Day 2018, Sunday, April 22.

    The event is hosted by the Humboldt Chapter of the Pacific Outfitters Green Team, a group of outdoor enthusiasts whose claim to fame is being "The Home of the 60-minute Weekly Clean-up!"

    They carry out brief, consistent clean-ups throughout the year.

  • (SAMOA) — The Samoa Police Service reminds the public that marijuana is illegal, announcing eight arrests made during a raid at the Savalalo Flea Market on the morning of Friday, April 20.

    Of the eight who were arrested, six were charged with possession of narcotics, states the SPS Facebook page.

    "A concerning number...have addressed the issue of marijuana being sold at the flea market...and pose a risk to the youth of Samoa," say police.

  • (BOSTON, Mass.) — A spring break tour of Ivy League campuses for 30 Pacific students studying in San Francisco is a "step in the right direction," says Rev. Pausa Kaio Thompson.

  • (PAGO PAGO, American Samoa) — Miss Pacific Islands Matauaina G. To'omalatai and Miss Samoa Alexandra Iakopo are heading to New Zealand for Auckland's iconic 26th Pasifika Festival.

    Traveling together, To'omalatai and Iakopo, will spend time in each of the 11 villages at the event.

  • (SAMOA) — JAWS has called a special meeting for Monday, 26 March where new members are invited to register.

    The meeting was announced on the National Media Association of Samoa JAWS Facebook page.

    New executive officers will be elected at the special meeting, said Rudy Bartley, Acting President of the Journalists Association of Samoa.

    The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. 26 March, 2018, at the Hotel Insel Fehmarn Conference Room.
